De Nieuwe Anita is cosy little bar in the west with an alternative, creative and homey atmosphere. A bar like a living room in the front area. Very vintage, very second hand. Grandmother’s lampshades. Music is alive in the Nieuwe Anita, and you may find yourself in an acoustic intimate session by a well-known artist, or an artistic electro slam. 80s lovers will like the Saturday night disco – yeah, retro, fitting the interior. The back area features a basement hall, good for concerts and dance nights – low key, very accessible. On Mondays De Nieuwe Anita houses a hand selected film program, called “Cinemanita” (entry € 3), which is far from mainstream. You can have your hipster haircut brought back in style for a mere 20 bucks (cheap for Amsterdam – but they do only men) is a visit in the afternoon between 10 and 16:00 during the week. Tuesday nights there is live music behind the bar, the event is called “De Witte Geit” it’s a real recommendation, a diverse presentation of mostly alternative styles, from jazz to pop to electro, something for every taste, if you are a bit into the diverse and alternative. All in all it’s the personal atmosphere I like about the Anita. Personal talks, personal entertainment. Intimate and surprising. Always welcoming.
